Qualifications & Application Process




The Transit Manager Certificate Program is designed for Florida’s public transportation mangers/supervisors and other key personnel that illustrate potential for growth as a leader in their respective agencies. This is not a remedial program. In order to be eligible to attend the Transit Manager Certificate Program a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Occupy a transit operations, maintenance or administrative supervisory/management (in a public transportation agency) position that includes full-time, permanent responsibility for others

  • Show an employment history of increasing leadership responsibilities

  • Have the intent to remain in public transportation industry for at least three years following completion of completion of the Transit Manager Supervisor Certificate Program

  • Complete the Transit Manager Certificate Program application and include:
    • Application
    • Professional resume
    • Written recommendation from his/her immediate supervisor indicating the applicant's potential for advancement in the public transportation industry
    • Written endorsement from the agency chief executive pledging support for the applicant's participation in the program

The application, resume, recommendation and endorsement letters must be submitted together. If the application arrives without the all the necessary documents, it will be returned.

The program’s administrators will follow up electronically with student’s general manager, manager and/or supervisor on a quarterly basis. The goal of the electronic progress report is to allow for the review of student progress.
